So I have an assignment to write a short story for tomorrow. I started it but I can’t seem to finish it *sigh* please help ???

I woke up in the middle of the night thirsty. I wanted to get a glass of water, so I went downstairs where the kitchen is. It was dark and I couldn’t see very clearly. Everyone was asleep and the house was utterly quite. I went to the kitchen I saw something shining on the floor. I turned on the lights very quickly to see what it was. It was broken glass. I freaked out and started to sweat I thought there was someone in the house. I heard a sound of a closing door then and I freaked out even more, so I wanted to go upstairs quickly to wake everyone up. I was really afraid to take the trip from the kitchen to the stairs, but I pulled myself together and started running towards the stairs like a crazy person hoping that the intruder won’t see me. I ran as fast as I could and while I was running I was trying not to look around to see something or someone. My eyes were only focused towards the stairs. I claimed the stairs fast skipping a step with every jump I made. I went to my parents’ bedroom knocked on the door on a hurry and got in. “Mom, dad I think there’s someone in our house.” My dad rushed out of his bed and took the nightstand that was next to him and went downstairs quietly. I stopped at the top of the staircase with my mother next to me and watched with terror.
